The running theme behind all of my work is that of using light, space, calligraphic forms and reversible figure-ground relationships to create visual tensions. To achieve this I try to make the plane of space that determines a specific edge against my forms just as important to the viewer as the figures themselves. Doing so created a subconscious question in the mind of the viewer that must be resolved before looking away.
