Discovery- May 2007
Exhibit Archives
![]() May 1-31 Opening Reception: Friday, May 4, 6:30-8:00pm With a combination of both glass and metal sculptures and both acrylic and oil paintings, our May show proves itself to be an exciting exhibit. For May’s artists reality is represented through designs and intricate lines. Michael Kessler’s acrylic paintings form windows into serene existences discovered by his imagination. Marietta Patricia Leis’s oil paintings, similarly abstract, recall an undercurrent, a collective energetic mood to which she is privy. Brian Russell’s three dimensional metal and glass sculptures, however, stimulate reflection. He distils the life around him into abstract points of intersection allowing the viewer to experience an emotional encounter. Joe Hobbs’s abstract glass figures create an eerie sense of self-recognition. His sculptural forms pull viewers towards an inner examination. All four of May’s artists strive to create that certain feeling which causes one to stop and reexamine first the art and then themselves.
