Jennifer Adair
The call to be an artist was a slow process for Jennifer Adair. For the first part of her life, Jennifer worked in the world of computers, offices, and reports and management. In 1986 she took a stained glass class. Jennifer became enthralled with the colors of glass and the shapes and shades she could create with her hands and mind. In 1996 Jennifer quit her day job and opened her studio. Her background enabled her to wire a switch on an electric kiln, keep the books and run the business, all of which allowed her to make fused glass. “First I want organic shapes and textures. In the same way a surfer rides the crest of a wave, or a watercolorist works wet into wet, I work controlling me and responding to my medium. Second, I love color, as much as I can get, but the combinations are what really make it sing. Third, I strive for integrity with the kiln-forming process. Whether sculptural or dimensional, I want my art glass to look like it should be made in a kiln.” |
