Ray’s interest in art began in his childhood as his mother worked for the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. As a child he played in the exhibit spaces and remembers the dinosaur bones and pottery which surrounded him. It wasn’t until an injury prevented him from playing football, that he began to focus his attention to an education in the arts. It was at Florida Atlantic University that he fell in love with his chosen medium of clay. Ray was intrigued by the daily variety of working with clay. His aim in creating his ceramic pieces was to educate people to recognize beauty in everyday surroundings. Barring an injury, Ray began working in metals to create a line of fine art jewelry.
