Formally a trained actress, Kelly Jean Ohl fell in love with clay near the end of her undergraduate work. Using familiar household tools and kitchen utensils, Ohl creates texture in her stoneware, earthenware, and porcelain pieces.

I use texture to invite people to touch the work. I am a nightmare to go to museums with as I am constantly touching. My artist brain is a sensory brain of touches, tastes, sights, sounds, and smells. This is what magic is made of and magic is the element of art.
